Match Format

MATCH FORMAT: 1 Singles, 2 Singles, 3 Singles, 1 Doubles, 2 Doubles, Exhibition Matches

For home matches, all 5 lines start at the same time, followed by exhibition. For away matches, the 1 singles, 2 singles, 1 doubles and 2 doubles lines usually play first, followed by 3 singles and then exhibition. Matches start around 4pm; LHS players start warming up at 3:45pm (if home).

FOOD: The home team provides food.  Players should always bring their own water and/or sports drink to take on the court with them.

One-two parents are assigned to bring food to each home match; most parents will be responsible for food at one match. The food is for the players (LHS and opponent), so about 20 teens. The booster club pays for the main food; parents select and purchase the food, bring it to the match, and give receipts to treasurer Elizabeth Flores, who will reimburse you. Food includes a main protein item (e.g., subs, sandwiches, wraps), fruit (e.g., bananas), salty and sweet snacks, and soda. Favorite vendors: Publix, Kroger, Jersey Mike’s, Subway, Chick-fil-A. Always ask if there is a discount for LHS tennis (Kroger and Publix usually say yes – see store manager).

The booster club supplies Gatorade, water, paper products and coolers for home matches only.  These items are in the storage building by the tennis courts and should be set up by the food parent.  Tables are in the storage building also.  Ice is available in the band building.

TRANSPORTATION & AWAY MATCHES:  Transportation to away matches is provided by the parents.  (School policy states that players are NOT permitted to drive themselves to away matches due to liability.)  Parent drivers should meet in the satellite parking lot near Shallowford Road at 3:15pm. When players return from away matches parents should pick them up in the satellite lot. However, parents who attend away matches may drive their son/daughter home.  Be sure to notify the parent who drove your son/daughter to the match that he/she is going home with you.  Note that all players travel to all matches regardless of whether they are in the line up.

TEAM MOM/DAD:  Each team has a lead parent to coordinate transportation, food and communications to the team.

PHOTOS:  Parents and friends are encouraged to take pictures and send them to the Marcy Friedman for the website and  for the slide show for the end-of-year celebration.

END-OF-YEAR CELEBRATION: This is for all players and families. Awards are given out on each team for MVP, scholar athlete, most improved, and the John Bickelhaup Spirit Award. Seniors recognition is the highlight. if you are in interested helping, please text Sinyee Phan, 404-428-8689 or email her at shf1211@aol.com.
